Career Accomplishments
As Retail Operations Director:
Significantly
contributed in providing the organization a sustained growth amidst the
economic crisis since 2010 in Greece. The company continues to be a profitable
business with a total annual net profit of about 230,000 € in 2013.
Played a
stellar role and applied Six Sigma methodology to improve “visual merchandizing”,
resulting in increase in sales through redesign of store layout.
Successfully
renegotiated with the bank the interest rate of the company’s short-term loan
to decrease it from 11% down to 9% in 2014 based on overall performance.
As Vice-President & Director of
Operations:Successfully
co-founded a €2-million (capital investment) small to medium size bakery/pastry
factory production (FMCG) start up in 2008. Obtained €1.5 million funding from
the Greek govt. and banks in 2008 to cofound the company.
Instrumental
in improving production by up to 30% and throughput times by up to 14%, while
reducing labour utilization cost per produced unit by up to 34% in 2011 by redesigning
the work flow of various production lines.
Attained
zero delivery delays of supplies and increased inventory turns by 70%, and
reduced monthly inventory cost by 22% in 2009, after 9 months of operation.
Reduced
material waste by 6%, reached zero delivery delays of supplies, increased
inventory turns by 70%, and reduced monthly inventory cost by 22% through ERP
implementation in 2010.
Applied
TQM and Six Sigma principles to enhance products quality: achieved 50%
reduction in defects; also implemented ISO 9001 and ISO 22000:2005 standards
for full compliance with EC food and safety regulations.
Through
a team effort, the company raised from an unknown entity to a successful
regional competitor in less than two years and with a sales revenue in excess
of €7 million between 2011 and 2013 albeit the economic crisis in Greece.
Exemplary
role in dealing with “crisis management” situations because of the economic
recession in Greece between 2010 and 2013 by:
Changed
the capacity planning strategy of VALDES to curb forecasted annual production
plans by 10% and hence adjust the company's production capacity and supplies’
demand because of the economic recession in 2010. The industry sector of VALDES
shrunk by 15% between 2010 and 2012.
Saved the
company from supply shortages for very long periods of time (during the start
of the economic crisis) through the careful strategic selection of suppliers in
2010.
Renegotiated
price terms with suppliers of raw material to save 100.000 € in 2011; also
renegotiated contracts with (land and sea) freight carriers to save up to 15% for
the transportation cost of goods.
Because of
the company’s positive credit record and performance, the managing director and
I were able to renegotiate with the bank the interest rate of the company’s
short-term and long-term loans and to decrease them by 3% and 1.5%
respectively, in 2012.
Contributed
to the preparation of an Employment Handbook Policy for all employees at VALDES in 2010.
As
Managing Director:Successfully
prepared a €500k business plan to create the company. The capital investment
was €300k, and negotiated with bank a long-term loan of €200k.
Managed to
obtain through personal and team efforts exclusive collaboration contracts with
the Greek Army to supply various military camps with PIT’s food vending products;
Negotiated the terms of the contracts and went through a bidding contest to
gain this “exclusive” collaboration.
Implemented
ISO 22000:2005 standards for full compliance with EC food and safety regulations
in 2005.
Tripled
the company’s annual revenue (reached some €3 million) by improving supply & service operations while
reducing operational costs by 14% in 2006.
Sold the
company to a multinational firm, in December 2008, for a substantial profit!
